Leisha Kelly series
Posted by on Wed 02/25/09 at 6:59 PM
In the last month I've started reading this series about a Christian family during depression times. Starting with "Julia's Hope",all the trials they endure while putting their complete trust in the Lord. "Emma's Gift" and "Katie's Dream" show how caring friends become closer then families. I can't wait to read the fourth book.

The Story of Easter - Pingry

Hi Family and Friends, The image above is the first page of a board book. If the image is not present go to http://www.samsrock.net/images/story_of_easter/inside.jpg (copy and paste if necessary) This is one of the three books that Sami picked to have read to her the morning of her death and the one that we buried with her. We have ordered several hundred copies of this book and placed Sami's photo and the message inside (it also now says donated by samsrock.net). It is our hope to get these books into preschools and elementary schools. Also, we offer them up to those of you who would like to have one for your family or to give to a friend. It is a great way to teach little ones and remind us of the true meaning of Easter. The last page says, "He gave His life for us so that we can live too." We hope you will consider ordering one (or more) of these books from us and donating it to your local school. We want to offer these free of charge but, as always, Sam's Rock welcomes donations from those of you who are financially blessed in this season of life and feel so led to do so. To order just go to contact us and tell me the number of books you would like, include your address and let me know for what school you ordered it - or if it is for you or a friend, we would just like to keep updated as to where Sam's Rock is being spread. Hey, feel free to order shirts or any other Sam's Rock merchandise now too - it will save to combine shipping! Also feel free to forward this offer to your friends. Blessings to you all! Love Debi and Sam's Rock
The Shack

Even though it took me awhile to decide to read The Shack, I am very glad that I did. Wow, a captivating well-written book! In an unconventional way, the Holy Trinity is revealed to a grieving father whose young daughter was murdered. The question of "Why do horrific tragedies happen to good people?" is explored and I find the explanation to be a help. The lead character, Mackenzie (Mack), had a hateful relationship with his own father, so God is portrayed as a loving African American woman who cooks up a storm. Jesus is a Middle Eastern man and is a carpenter, naturally (Mack relates to Him the most). The Holy Spirit is an ethereal Asian woman, and as a Spirit, she is both seen, but not seen, if that makes sense. Mack is taken on a spiritual journey and is changed by it. My favorite message of the book is that God is Love and we are free to accept Him, and He will always love us no matter what we choose, although it may grieve Him. Matter in fact, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are crazy in love with Mack and with each other. This is often depicted in humorous, loving moments. Eventually, Mack finds the way to forgive, both his father and his daughter's killer. I will say no more, because I don't want to tell all, just read the book for yourself.

Wow, powerful testimony of missionaries who had such a love for people they didn't even know to come to Christ they were willing to pay any price to reach them and the story still continues to this day.
